Employees of two local newspapers pulled together to open a sheet-fed print shop, operating as a publication printer
1979 Watsonville Press was purchased by TL Sprague Inc. – a family run corporation (current ownership)
1989 Built a new facility twice the size of the original operation – first building to break ground after the Loma Prieta Earthquake
1994 Purchased Monterey Bay Litho – now offering color printing
1995 Installed new 6-Color Komori Lithrone

Installed new HP/Indigo 3500 Digital Press
2001 Acquired/merged with ColorAd Printers of Monterey (founded in 1960) specializing in 4 to 6 color high-end printing with facilities in Silicon Valley and Monterey.
2003 Printworx Watsonville Press and ColorAd Printers became known as Printworx and moved all operations and staff to the Watsonville facility, doubling capacity with an additional 6-color press, and advanced bindery operations, including die-cutting.
2006 Installed new HP 5500 Digital Press
2007 Installed new fully automated 6-Color Komori Lithrone LSX29
2009 Monterey Bay Green Business Program Became Green Certified
2011 Became FSC® Certified

Installed new Kodak Automated DTP Magnus Plating System
2012 Purchased and relocated to new energy efficient facility in Castroville
